Hospice care includes the sharing of love and moments together to create a beautiful end of life story.
Recently I visited a patient who had a huge Southern plantation replica home in their house. The care giver spouse had stated that she had worked on this keepsake for 15 years with the guidance of her husband. The spouse told me it was a replica of the “old southern homes” and was a labor of love between her and her husband. The smallest detail was not overlooked and the replica included electricity, a working smoke stack and a grand ballroom.
Years were spent together creating and guiding this beautiful tribute of history and a place that touched the hearts of both spouses, somewhere in time that had shaped them forever.
Together they still enjoy this replica. Even though they are at the end of their life story.
Our own life stories take time and what we have as a remembrance of them can last a life time and give us comfort when we need it most.
