Do I take my child to UrgiCare or the Emergency Department?

Parents have a few things to¬†consider when their child gets sick or injured. Can the family doctor see the child that day? Is this an emergency that requires immediate medical attention? Is it a holiday or¬†weekend and you can’t wait for the family doctor on-call to get back to you? Holy Redeemer Pediatric UrgiCare opened July 1, 2014 to care for children after regular physician hours or when medical attention is needed quickly. But how do parents know if their child should be seen in UrgiCare or the Emergency Department? Dr. Avi Gurwitz provides some insight:
